Asphalt Patching & Repair for Indiana

Over time, every asphalt surface will break down in some way or another. Most of the time, this will show itself as cracks, but other significant problems can also arise. The most common of these issues is potholes.

Luckily for you, the Asphalt Pros family is here with the tools, materials, and experience needed to make sure your asphalt surfaces get repaired properly and within budget.

Asphalt Crack Sealing

As your driveway or parking lot ages, it will start to crack. These cracks will allow water to enter the base materials causing the entire structure to weaken. Applying a hot liquid rubber will seal the cracks and prevent water penetration into the base.

Pothole Repair

With the rough weather in Indiana comes potholes. As you know, they can cause serious issues that can lead to property damage, personal injury, or worse. That said, you should get them filled in as quickly as possible because, left unrepaired the pothole will continue to grow in size.

The type of pothole repair you need will depend on current weather temperatures and where the pothole is actually located.

Cold Patch

Cold patches should be looked at only as a temporary solution for pothole problems. While we take pride in the work and service, we feel compelled to inform you that cold patches aren’t a permanent solution. Cold patches are best for when asphalt plants are closed for the season, but you need a pothole repaired.

If you have a pothole in your asphalt and need it repaired basically yesterday, but the weather isn’t warm enough to work with hot mix asphalt, cold patches are an ideal short-term fix. After the mix is laid into and over the pothole, it will be rolled for proper compacting into a flat, drivable surface.

Hot Patch

If you have a pothole and need it repaired for the life of your driveway, parking lot, or other asphalted surface, hot patches are the permanent solution you’re looking for. Using more labor-intensive methods and much higher-quality materials, hot patching potholes in asphalt will cost a bit more than cold patches. On the other hand, the fact that hot patching is a permanent fix (rather than a bandaid), means you won’t have to worry about the same pothole showing up over and over again.

Where cold patching is just filling and compacting the hole, hot patching requires that the asphalt is cut out into a rectangle – and the size of that rectangle depends on how much of the asphalt is unsound due to the pothole’s depth and underlying shape. This old, broken asphalt is removed.

After that, we apply a bonding tack to the vertical edges, fill the space with fresh, new asphalt, and then compact it.

With this repair method, you can reasonably expect that surface to last as long as the rest of your asphalt.
